About Manali

One day, Varvasvata, the seventh incarnation of Manu, found a tiny fish in his bathing water. The fish warned him of an impending deluge and instructed him to build an ark. When the flood came, Manu and seven sages were towed to safety by Matsya, the first avatar of Lord Vishnu. As the waters receded, the ark came to rest on a hillside, giving rise to Manali.
